LEIGH LYNDON, PSY.D.

 LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, PSY 26466

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with eight years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults, children, adolescents and couples in community clinics, outpatient settings, and public schools. Currently, I am in private practice in San Francisco and Oakland and teach at Newborn Connections at California Pacific Medical Center. I am influenced by contemporary psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and Buddhist psychology.

Before becoming a clinical psychologist, I was a choreographer and performer in New York City. I was particularly interested in the ways in which I, as the performer, was influenced by the audience and how they were mutually influenced by me. The kind of listening that went on between us allowed for new experiences, new understandings. I use the listening and observation skills that I honed as a performer in my work as a therapist: a person's words, body language, rhythm and tone of voice, sense of humor, all create meanings that we uncover together.

I received my doctorate in psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley. During my time in school, I trained at the Ann Martin Center, the Wright Clinic, Cleo Eulau, and California Pacific Medical Center (where I did both pre and postdoctoral training with an emphasis on women's mental health).

I hold an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University and a B.A. in Humanities from University of Chicago.
